Troubleshooting Audio Issues

Troubleshooting Audio Issues

Please Note: Not all Screach TV content has audio, Digital signage channels such as Screach Sports, Screach Mix or My Promotions do not have audio.

Before you attempt any audio troubleshooting, check you do not have a Digital Signage channel playing on your Screach TV screen

Most external devices will have a separate audio output on them.

Most commonly in the form of a 3.5mm jack output,(also known as a headphone socket). This can be utilized if you wish to play audio throughout your venue.

Note: if you are using an RF distribution method you may experience out of sync audio

TV Audio

  1. Check that the volume is turned up on your tv and that mute has not been enabled.
  2. Check that the external device volume is turned up and unmuted.
  3. Test if audio is coming from an alternative source or channel.

If you have connected your device to a separate audio distribution system.

  1. Check that the volume is turned up on your amplifiers and that the correct input has been selected.
  2. Check that the external device volume is turned up and unmuted.
  3. Test if audio is coming from an alternative source.
  4. Check cables for any signs of damage.

If you are using an external device such as a laptop or firestick connected via HDMI to your TV

  1. Check your HDMI cable supports audio, you may need to use a different HDMI cable or connect a separate audio cable to your tv screen.
  2. Check your cables for any signs of damage.
  3. Check that the external device volume is turned up and unmuted.
  4. If the external device has more than one sound output, ensure the device is targeting the correct output source.

If you have an HDMI or HDMI over IP Distribution solution

  1. Does your Matrix handle the audio switching as well as the video,
    1. Yes, check you have the correct audio input selected.
      1. Check that the external device volume is turned up and unmuted.
    2. No, you will need to take a feed directly from your streaming device to your audio system.

If you have a Composite Distribution matrix

  1. Does your Matrix handle the audio switching as well as the video,
    1. Yes, check you have the correct audio input selected.
      1. Check that the external device volume is turned up and unmuted.
    2. No, you will need to take a feed directly from your streaming device to your audio system.
  2. Check that all the cables are connected firmly to the correct inputs.
    1. Yellow for Video, Red and White for Audio

If you have an RF Distribution matrix

Using a separate RF modulation will add a signal delay to your image, if you are taking a separate audio feed from your streaming device you may find there is a delay between the video and the audio.

  1. To combat this, check whether your steaming device has a setting to offset the output audio. (See your devices HDMI or audio settings)
  2. Check that the external device volume is turned up and unmuted.
  3. If you are unable to take the audio directly from the device due to audio Latency the audio will have to be taken after the video and audio signal has been converted by your modulator.
    1. For Example play audio directly from the screens or for a seperate RF Receiver that is connected into your Audio system.
  4. Some modulators will have a built-in audio output to assist in this delay.
